newspaper project: rescue and preserve
The Museum of Ceramics owns over 500 volumes of bound newspapers dating back to the mid-1800s. Most of these volumes are available on microfilm or in the subscription database, Newspapers.com. However, 60 volumes have not been duplicated in other formats and the information they contain is soon to be lost forever if not rescued. The photograph here shows the fragile and deteriorating volumes.
The Museum was awarded $15,000 Ohio History Fund Grant from the Ohio History Connection to "rescue and preserve." the newspapers. It was one of nine awards from a pool of 50 applicants...and the Museum received the highest monetary award! So the work begins. This page will document the progress.
